Etsy Guilt

From time to time, I like to highlight something cute I've found on Etsy but the truth is, it makes me feel guilty to shop there. Last night I bought this really darling crayon apron for my daughter's upcoming birthday. Isn't it pretty? (don't laugh if you see me at a crop with this tiny little apron busting at the seams around my own waist). The guilt part is, when you are somewhat crafty it's hard to buy anything homemade because deep down you know you have enough supplies to at least ATTEMPT to make the crafty item yourself.
Now I'm even hunting through Etsy and Ebay looking for cute hairbows for my little girl's newly short hair (she recently donated her ponytail to a cancer charity and her hair is adorable with big bows on the side of her little A-line bob). Meanwhile, I sit here surrounded by gorgeous Ikea jars filled with pretty ribbons so surely I could try and make the hairbows myself, right? I just don't think they'd look professional... any tips or sites that you would recommend to teach me?
P.S. That was a tamarindo jelly belly with a dash of chili powder- you were all so close. I LOVE mangos with chili but Jelly Belly already does a mango jelly bean. I have since submitted 4 more flavors. This contest is GENIUS for the execs at Jelly Belly who have exhausted their flavor ideas!

OOOH! *falls in love* I have to go Etsy-surfing now...! *happy bounce* I can SO see what you mean about buying it for you DD and wearing it yourself - I would too!! :D
I've entered a guava bean! Post some pics of the new hair cut please.
This is Adorable!!!
Love *your* new apron! (You know you'll steal it after the party!)
Please do share a photo of Tabby's new haircut! I can't believe she had it cut (or that you (and Scott) would let her!).
It is just so cute who would not want one? I still color with the little ones why not have an apron too!
OK, great minds definitely do think alike. I've been thinking alot lately about making my own little girl's hairbows. It's very frustrating when you have the perfect cute outfit, but not the perfect bow to go with it. So, that being said, I found a fabulous website that offers FREE bow making instructions. Here's the site...I haven't tried them all, but I did try one of the corker bows with some of my ribbon stash (they're so much prettier with grosgrain ribbon).

Scroll down under Customer Service and FREE instructions are there. Apron is absolutely adorable btw!
Have a delightful scrappin' day! :)
Hi Angela,
I have lots of hair clips for my DD and buy them at the $2 shops cause they never last long and when the things fall off I have great embellishments for my scrapbook pages... Working the other way round seems too expensive to me as $2 gets you 4 hair clips and as long as you see them fall off you then have four embellishments. If you really want to make some what about different sized brightly coloured buttons to look like a flower. Or a chipboard piece decorated and glued to the clip. For ribbon I'd do ribbon flowers. Not sure where you can learn this as I learn it at a scrapbook fair. You basically get a sewing needle with some cotton and make loops on the needle till you have a flower you like (hint: twist one way then the other) then pass it all the way through the needle and sew it all together. Add a little button as the centre of the flower.
i just love that little apron...so cute!good purchase!
OMG!! That is fabulous Angela!! I thought at first you had made it. hee hee. All the bright colors are so awesome. And...I have to comment on your blog header again too. I just think it's so fun. I still havent' changed mine but...when I grow up, I want a blog header just like yours. LOL!
Really I wanted to say, have a super fun time at your upcoming event. I'm very excited for you (and for the record....wish I was coming too! lol)
That IS such an adorable apron!!!!
Love the apron Ang! I wouldn't blame you for borrowing it for crops. Wouldn't those pockets fit some pixie sticks or licorice? I totally know what you mean about buying homemade. Its hard knowing that you really could make it yourself BUT you are helping another crafter. Think of it as charity =)
I've made my daughter a few hairbows. Flowers are pretty easy with wire trimmed ribbon. I'll try to find the instructions. Here is my blog link with pics of the two bows I've made:

That apron is so pretty! Love that mix of fabrics. Hope your DD loves it. :)
This reminds me of the apron that Pattye made on the show. Make sure you post a picture with Tabitha in it.
